The International Rotifer Symposium has taken place every three years since the inaugural meeting in 1976, at Lunz am See (Austria). It is a unique opportunity for rotiferologists, the "rotifer family“, to share an up-to-date perspective on all topics related to rotifer biology and build international friendships. For many of us, these meetings have inspired a lifetime of research into the ecology and biology of these remarkable small metazoans.
You are all invited to present your research related to Rotifera (Seisonida, Bdelloidea, Monogononta) and their phylogenetically related groups (e.g., Acanthocephala) and participate in the activities of the conference. On the 16th International Rotifer Symposium or Rotifera XVI participated151 scientists, 97 onsite and 44 online, respectively. This meeting gathers scientists from literally each continent, including 25 countries. The most numerous were participants from Mexico (24) USA (20), and Poland (15), eight countries with four to 13 participants (Croatia, Belgium, Germany, Spain, China, Greece, UK, Check Republic) and 14 countries had up to three participants. Altogether, 358 coauthors supported seven invited lectures, 64 oral and 77 poster presentations. In the ratio of students vs. PhD and professors, one-third of the participants belong to the new arrival young scientists and give us hope in those who will cherish rotifer topics in the future. Thank you all for the beautiful words related to the meeting organization. Also, we wish good luck to the next host of Rotifera XVII.
